The latest research from German security firm Security Research Lab shows that the GSM mobile phone users up to 80%, and they’re vulnerable to a new round of high-level hackers attack.
SRL conducted the test in 11 countries in Berlin, it’s easy for sophisticated cyber criminals to intercept, tracking and counterfeit activities of the GSM mobile phone users. However, due to launch GSM attack required complexity of technology and most of people can not match, some security experts questioned whether such a threat worthy of attention. However, SRL director Carsten Noel warned, we should not underestimate the this threat which GSM mobile phone users facing.
Noel said he has successfully used a GSM phone to invade a colleague’s personal cell phone, the test including nine EU member states, 30 different networks, as well as the 3 network in Morocco and four network in Thailand. SRL did not test any network vulnerability in the United States, however, Noel pointed out, the AT & T and T-Mobile U.S. operators use GSM technology as the rest of the world. All systems are being tested with varying degrees of vulnerability.
